What are the different ways that can be used to check email on a server using a PHP script. So far I've found you can use IMAP and I think sockets, but since these are usually discarded in PHP compilings that I'd like to find an alternate route.
So, Does anyone know of different methods, to get emails from a server (*Nix) and be able to display them in lists, and certain messages using a PHP script?
Sockets, Sockets and Sockets. Most poeple who know anything about anything will most certianly compile PHP with socket support. Areyou planning on selling this script or something, if its going to be free, then there si nothing wrong with setting requirements on the script, like "must have sockets enabled in PHP".
I was planning on selling this one, so I was wondering which was the best way to go.
Well, since you recommend sockets highly, I'll look into it in more detail so I can make plans for a script of this sort. While, I have a thread open can I ask everyone the best way to make a poll script?
Each Vote has it's own record and each POll has it's own table?
Each vote is added onto a tally and polls have seperate tableS?
each vote is added onto a tally and polls use the same table?
Just a thought, I am no expert in DB design but three tbales should do the trick.
This would seem like the most logical way to do it, since a poll can have one or many Choices and Choice can be voted on one or many times.
OK Freddy, thanks....I'll go with that one
