Im almost done with a site ive been working on and now im ready to add some security. Ive found several java scripts that disable the right click on your mouse but I dont like this because it blocks surfers from adding to favorites. Can anyone tell me how to modify or where to find a script that will disable VIEW SOURCE, and SAVE BACKGROUND etc. but still allow surfer to add to favorites?
You can't. JScript isn't flexible enough to do what you want. Besides, if people really wanted to steal your stuff they'd either :
2. Use the 'Save As' button on their browser to save the page to their hard drive (and thus all the images, files, etc.)
3. Use the View Source option under 'View'.
there's also no point.
the web should be open and not restricted
i wouldn't really call it security, unless its really important?
there's little they can do that would affect you, and even if they copy your site, you can just sue them.
Preventing people from viewing your code is irritating as it only delays and frustrates users, if they really want to view your code, nothing can stop them. If you really want to safeguard your scripts, use a sever side language.
I agree whole-heartedly. The web was built specifically for open-source development. This is how many people learn. It saddens me to see this web 'avariciousness'. (P.S, for people who don't know what avarice is, look it up ;))
Lend your code to others. Simply think of how you got started!
Sean, any added regard I was going to hold you in for using the word 'avarice' was lost when you warped it into 'avariciousness'. ;)
For the record, I'm in full agreement with the points made above!
dang, I knew that word would have 'reprocussions'!
(groan) Spelling, now! You really know how to push my buttons. ;)
