I'm planning on buying a book this weekend that will teach PHP and hopefully mySQL. I've got a programmers background, and dabbled in C++ and Perl. I've already gone to many tutorial sites for PHP and haven't had a problem with them, but I am looking for more.
So basically, I'm seeking a book that won't be a "Dummies"-type theme, but also not one that is just a manual with a list of functions and commands - I still want it to be a tutorial. Any suggestions?
"Core PHP Programming" is a good one. I would recommend "PHP4 for Beginners" but you aren't a beginner programmer..... :)
Professional PHP Programming and MySQL are my two picks for books in this area. Click the links for my full reviews!
Hate to disagree, Hartmann, but I've heard "Core PHP Programming" is really bad in comparison to WROX's offerings.
