IE5.5 has been really annoying to me ever since I installed it 2 nights ago. When I try to embed a table ( with the height set to 100% ) inside another table, the embeded table does not expand to the entire height as it does in IE5. This is really annoying as it means I might have to totally redesign my site. Are there any ways to get around this?
Thanx in advance for your help
Is it possible that the cell padding and cell spacing attributes of the outer table aren't set to 0?
You could also try setting the cell spacing of the inner table to 0 as well, and see if that helps.
LOL yea they're set to 0
The tables jsut wont expand at all when I put in a percentage value, they do expand however when I put in a specific pixel value
Thanx for your suggestion :)
The height attribute of the table tag has never been part of the html standard but IE and Netscape supported it. It might be that in IE5.5 that support has been dropped.
Have you tried setting the height as a style attribute instead.
I tried this in N6 and IE5 and it works ok but I haven't got IE5.5 installed.
<table border="1" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
<td width="300" height="300">
<!-- Inner table -->
<table style="height: 100%" width="100%" border="1" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
<!-- End of inner table -->
Thanks alot for your suggestion shane, but it still didn't solve my problem :(
the "height="100%"" thing works fine in IE5 but it doesn't appear to work in 5.5, a real bugger
Thanx again for your suggestion
Maybe you can post your code so we cna have a look?
