How do I make a php file the main page. With a .html extension all you have to do is go to the root of the directory and it will show the index page. Do you have to do anything differently with a .php extension? I notice with phpmyadmin, when I go to the root of the directory that it shows all the filenames and index.php doesn't default as the main page.
Thanks. I hope I made sence...
You need to either restart apache with the following additional line in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
or (the easier method) ...
make a .htaccess file with the following in and upload in ASCII mode to the root of your account.
This assumes your host allows the use of .htaccess files
What Peter said is the best thing to do, if you arent able to work an .htaccess file, ask your host to set it up specifically for your account in their apache configuration .. i've had to setup specific changes for clients in the past
