I always prefer and use Stumbleupon, Digg, Facebook, Twitter and Google+ to divert traffic to my website so i would suggest you to make as many followers and fans as you can on these social media sites because without any followers you won't generate any traffic. So engage with users
Not just about posting on social networks as mentioned. Important to be involved, sharing, engaging, and creating and taking part in conversations. Never selling. Post useful advice and let people decide if they wish to go to your shop. Post discounts but do not flood networks with product ads. For example Halloween approaches, and you have a client selling gifts, they have masks and all sorts. Create fun Halloween articles around events and facts, post them as part of the client site blog. Just one example. Or use squidoo and post those pages to FB and Twitter (add product tags on twitter).
To get traffic from Social Media, you may follow some tips such as
1. Make your profile attractive
2. Post unique and fresh content regularly on social media sites
3. join groups
4. and do high pr bookmarking to generate traffic.
You can get more traffic from Facebook, Twitter and pintreast , just you need to build better social network and need to update regular.
Did you try to use documents sharing website, if not. You can get many visitors just by using this tactic.
Basically, it’s a bit like article marketing, except that you can use rich content in your articles (images, links, different fonts etc) and you can also share different document formats like .doc and Powerpoint files.
Document sharing sites act as “article directories” for all these different documents, and
anybody can come along and submit their content.
It’s basically a more evolved version of article marketing.
Here are my three best documents sharing websites:
The most famous document sharing site is Scribd at http://www.scribd.com – you should register for free immediately.
You can also sign up for Slideshare at http://www.slideshare.net
Docstoc.com (http://www.docstoc.com) is the final document sharing site you should sign up for at the moment.
# Be consistent and be active in social media - that's the thumb rule.
# Do not promote only your own domain ... with that promote other useful posts from your industry.
# Make friends on social media and retweet, likes, share their posts as well.
