Hi,
I'm new here and in awe of you guys and gals! Fortunately, I already have a wonderful web site that was made for me by a very nice young man just out of college. Unfortunately, he has moved out of the area and I have been unable to contact him. I'm an artist and I need advice on how to add a simple, basic "Image Gallery"? to one of the pages of my site. I need one image at a time per page with a < (previous) arrow to the left of the centered painting and a > (next) arrow to the right. Under the painting I would like four lines of text describing the work (title, material, size, and price. Which forum do I go to for this information? Thank you very kindly for your help as I am not knowledgeable in web site design. I know how to access my HTML web pages and change text, paste a few lines of code or add a link, but that's it. I have not added my web site address because I'm not sure if it's appropriate to do so. If requested, I will be happy to do so if it helps to solve my problem. Thank you all for any kind advice you give me.
Respectfully,
Tony

I'm using a table to create a form for gathering data to put into a database. I realize that's "old school", but for now, just go with it. 8-)

There are 6 fields (2 radio buttons, 3 text fields, and 1 checkbox) and a button in the row. When the browser window is wide enough, all is fine. When the browser window is shrunk below 15", the third text field seems to slip "behind" the second text field. It's still accessible, you just can't see it. If you put your cursor in the second field, type something, then tab to the third field, you can see the cursor but it still appears to be in the second field. Type something (which you can not see, but you can see the cursor move) and hit the submit button and all the data (including what you couldn't see) is added to the database.

What do I need to change to make all the fields always be visible? It's OK if they change sizes as the browser is resized. Or, maybe, you have a better solution.

Thanks.

I'm currently learning HTML5, CSS, Javascript, and JQuery. I'm pretty new to web design/development. I also heard PHP and MySQL is good program to learn. Is it good to have experience on graphic design programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator? I also want to know how many daily hours does the web developers invest to keep up with their skills. I know web design and web development is different thing. Is it good idea to start as web designer and then take steps into coding? Your answer would be very appreciated. Thank you.

BTW those two web pages that I created with PNG files that I created from adobe program and coding with HTML and CSS. Followed some other designer's styles. See what you think and I would love to have constructive feedback.

So, 'm staying home with the kids but need to get myself started in what I really want to do. I'm working to acquire the skills to make it! HTML, CSS, JS, Ruby etc.

I can't get myself to start building my first website. I've taken teamtreehouse.com courses, codecademy and some codeschool courses and also watched some lynda.com. i thought i knew my stuff but haven't been able to practice much to put it to the test. It's hard for me to sit down and start writing! Partly bc of the kids partly bc of ADD! I feel I'm ok with my html and CSS but not so much JavaScript or jquery. Should I learn these first before jumping in? Are there any other languages I should be proficient in? I want to do front end work but would also like to do some back end and some Wordpress. I'm kind of all over. Guidance?? Please.

Any tips to get started? Any tools I should have in my arsenal as in snippets, templates, or the like? I feel like if I use things like that it a crutch! Is that bad or am I just being nuts?

It gets a little frustrating! I need to build a portfolio but I don't know what to build. Not sure where to start. I would appreciate any guidance/tips please!

Thank you so much!
