Firefox Extensions for Forums

Couple of helpful Firefox extensions for working with forums like Sitepoint forums

BBCode – adds a context menu (right click in textarea) to add BBCode tags to the text you’re typing. Works pretty nicely (although hopefully the author will consider keyboard shortcuts as well in time)

Scribe – allows you to save the contents of an HTML form you’re typing to the filesystem (as XHTML) with just a “CTRL+S”, allowing you to reopen it and have the form populated with the results. Basically no need to lose another post again…

Update: Cheah has a great explaination (w. screenshots) of the BBCode extension here

Update 2: no not here, there

Whoops! Providing the wrong link to my own entry. For shame!

No need for the BBCode to provide keyboard short cuts, both phpBB & vBulletin at least support short cuts nativly.

Heh I got mentioned (I’m Chu Yeow btw, “Cheah” is my surname).

The correct link location for the “here” link is http://blog.codefront.net/archives/2004/07/13/rss_feed_integration_in_firefox.php

Looks like the “here” link isn’t working!
