Is there a difference in font quality depending on source?

Hi All,
I am using Google Fonts to render a custom font. Nice and simple to implement.What I have noticed that even though the font is the same as on another site, the quality is different.

Is this expected? And if so, what’s the best place/way (free or not) to implement a cusotm font? The font in question is Lato.

I can see nothing wrong with it on my “Google Font” page…

…which displays the font as regular.

It will look different, of course, with font-weight: bold. :winky:
