There’s only one man for Beginner of PHP and that’s Larry Ullman, one of his PHP books (yes he has many books, not only on PHP but on Ruby, Ajax, Adobe AIR etc) is similiar called PHP 6 and MySQL 5 for Dynamic Web Sites: Visual QuickPro Guide…
480 pages is hardly an easy read, 300 is an easy read!

After purchasing and reading through the 3rd edition I can confirm the book is a very easy read and was a great beginner book.
I am interested in purchasing the 4th edition but not sure if enough content has been changed to warrant the purchase.
Can anyone confirm?

Excellent book to read on !, However , I think most of the PHP developers used online blog posts or articles to learn most of the coding stuff !, I use Php Tutorial Blog (http://www.phpcollection.com} a lot for learning new stuff
