Well, my wife had a healthy baby boy at 6:32 am EST this morning. It’s our second, and (pending a big surprise) last child.
When I first started the entrepreneurial route, my wife and I had a philosophical discussion that went like this: What if we lose all of our money by pursuing this venture? And ultimately we concluded that, worst case, we’d rent out a trailer and work hard to eventually get back on our feet. But we still had each other, and we’d still enjoy the ride.
I feel blessed to have a terrific family and work that I love. And good health.
Maybe pithy and certainly not a blog entry that’s going to generate more sales for anyone reading it, but perspective is a big part of the game.
Back to the real work, which at this moment happens to be driving my wife’s knitting project back to the hospital, as she forgot it in the rush of her water breaking….

Interesting, of course perspective is required to do something like you have done. Anyone know of a book or article(s) regarding an entrepreneur in business, and family life (wife, kids, etc..)??

Congratulations on becoming a father once more. Coindentally for us the road to being an entrepreneur began with the birth of our first son about 7 years ago…
And the conversations always went on the lines you describe - we had even coined a word for it “Max-what-if?”

Oh, well done! Isn’t birth exciting?
(If it weren’t that I’m not completely stupid, I would have had six :))

Congratulations from all of us. I just had my second the other week as well, so I’m totally with you on the perspective aspect.

Yup congratulations! Kids help define life’s perspectives and probably more importantly, also allow you to see the world through their very simple eyes, which sometimes brings you back down to earth with a huge bump. My little one is 5 and when she turned round and said ‘why are you home Daddy? Mummy dosen’t want you anymore because you don’t love her!’ I realised just what hell I had been putting my family through because of my work. Needless to say my dear ones now come first, always.
