Longhorn Trimmed

BusinessWeek: “To get the already-delayed follow-up to Windows XP out the door by 2006, it has decided to omit some of the most ambitious features”

Anyone involved in development knows that some of the grander plans thought up at design time won’t make it past implementation, but with the resources Microsoft has, I wonder how difficult it would be just to drive all this home? It’s something I’ve asked on Channel 9 which looks like going from strength to strength.

Happy Easter (or Happy Holidays to those who don’t celebrate such things)!

  1. “but with the resources Microsoft has”

Theres an video on that on channel 9, they dont have unlimited resources, or even as much resources as they would like, but he explains why it is better that way.

  2. Unlimited, of course not. But with a massive release like Longhorn, Microsoft could expand to fill up the holes.

Greater minds than mine have of course looked at this, I just don’t see why :)
